Sanja Stefanovic

Registered Psychologist

I work with women and men who experience a range of difficulties, like anxiety, depression, grief and post-traumatic stress following different life challenges. I have a special interest in working with people in caring professions who may experience vicarious traumatization, compassion fatigue and burnout, pursuing their personal growth.

My approach to psychotherapy is person-centred, holistic and playful. It is informed by a range of therapeutic modalities, including attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, somatosensory approaches, Compassion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy and Jungian Sandplay Therapy. Sandplay therapy is a powerful non-verbal therapeutic modality that activates psyche’s natural capacity for healing by symbolically expressing and processing conscious and unconscious feelings and experiences. It is creative, playful, deeply meaningful and safe.

You will be able to claim the Medicare Rebate if you have been referred by your GP under a Mental Health Care Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

I am a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with children, young people and adults, from diverse cultural backgrounds, presenting with a range of mental health difficulties, after experiencing traumatic events.

I graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, Croatia. I have trained in Sandplay Therapy, first with a sandplay therapist Karen Daniel, and then with teaching members of ISST (International Society for Sandplay Therapy).
